Use only hypoallergenic and certified organic lip balms.
Are your lips chronically chapped?
Do you feel addicted to lip balm?
Many lip balms contain allergens that cause cracks in the lips. This is the perfect setting for lip balm manufacturers. I have seen it again and again in my 30+ years of dermatology practice. Artificial and natural flavors, flavors and "healing ingredients" may be allergens. Avoid them. Use only hypoallergenic products.
Why is it important to use only hypoallergenic lip balms?
Because lip skin is fragile. As a dermatologist, I know this from the lip structure and physiology. Lips easily absorb allergens compared to thicker areas of your skin. As soon as you develop an allergic reaction to something — for example, citrus fruits, mint, cinnamon, artificial flavors, and other common flavors — you will be allergic to them for life. For example, if you are allergic to mint or citrus fruits, each time you drink citrus in juice or squeeze a piece of lemon in your tea or water, you will have cracks and dry lips. The rash is actually allergic contact dermatitis. This usually results in a crackling sensation on both the upper and lower lip.
How to find out if chapped lips really chapped or caused by allergies to lip balm?
True weather crackles usually affect the lower lip much more than the upper lip. Allergic lip dermatitis, called an allergic chelitis, usually causes dryness, flaking and cracking of both the upper and lower lips.
Why does the doctor recommend organic natural lip balm?
Because I know that you eat what's on your lips. Lip care products should not include ingredients you don’t want to use, such as heavy metals (found in many non-ferrous products, lip care products), artificial colors, flavors and fragrances. Keep your lip balm simple. That's what I did with my certified natural lip balm.

Find out why I love my Natural Lip Balm in my latest video. This is what I use every day, before going to bed and before eating or drinking, which can irritate my lips. (I am allergic to citrus fruits, and I apply a fresh layer of lip balm before drinking a glass or orange juice – or margarita!)
Keep a tube of hypoallergenic natural lip balm at hand. I hold a tube of natural lip balm in my purse, in the bathroom, by the bed, and give them as a gift – everyone needs a smart, hypoallergenic, certified, organic lip balm!
I know that my Natural Lip Balm will help keep your lips healthy and moist, and help you avoid dependence on lip balm. This is a clever lip balm!
