This holiday season … How to balance respect for your efforts and holiday maintenance: to lose

This is the editing of a comment I made in another post, about how to think about what is happening in the festive diet. “Come on, eat carbohydrates until our hearts stop. Instead, I propose that we can be faithful to both, the traditions of the feast and our commitment to proper nutrition. The choice is not between events without control and events of tight control – we can choose the middle path.

For me, I count calories, but I don’t want to build thousands of calories for myself. With this in mind …

Honoring the holiday and respecting my efforts

  • I'll be harder on vegetables and lean turkey (read my effort)

  • I'm going to make some of the homemade fillings (holiday honor)

  • I am going to hand in cheap items bought in the store that I always have (read my effort)

  • I will have a piece of cake (honor of the holiday)

  • I am going to eat slowly and carefully, mentally recall special tastes, feelings and smells (read my effort and holiday)

  • I'm going to keep my first portions smaller … (read my efforts)

  • … because I plan to have seconds something when the rest of the table begins to have seconds … (read holiday)

  • I'm going to take quick pictures of my plates so that I can register them later (read my efforts)

  • I'm not going to try to find and enter every item on my plate at the dinner table (the honor of the holiday)

  • I'm going to take a walk after dinner (read my efforts)

  • I will remember that this holiday is our traditions and an assessment of people and circumstances of our life (honor of a holiday)

I am also not going to impose my efforts on others, as I do this, I will do it calmly and not distract anyone from my way of enjoying the day. This concerns the sharing of a holiday, while I fulfill my efforts.
