The Best Way to Eat for Bowel Treatments – Articles
The gut continues to be a buzzword in the world of nutrition and holistic health. More and more research is emerging on how our intestinal health has a greater impact than we ever thought when it comes to our immune system, metabolism, and overall health.
And here's the thing: there are many programs to improve bowel health (and, more likely, will appear on the market soon) that offer nutrition plans and additional treatment. But ironically, many of these recommendations can actually negatively affect your intestinal health.
Life Time has its own bowel treatment program, and one of our most frequently asked questions we get:
“May I take GUT.FIXSm supplements without a 30-day nutrition plan? "
GUT.FIX kit Designed to help our inner gut nourish, to help digest and absorb the foods we eat. And in and of itself, this will certainly help improve overall digestive health and functioning by supporting our immune system.
But if your digestive health is already undermined or there are any problems with the digestion and absorption of nutrients, you may need more support than the supplements in our kit.
So, what are the main components of nutrition for bowel treatment? Below I have outlined the key components of our GUT.FIX nutrition plan, which explains why each recommendation works for most people trying to heal and nourish their intestines. If you are addicted to any kind of nutrition plan aimed at promoting intestines (without getting the desired results), consider the following recommendations for intestinal healing:
Eliminate major violators
Gluten, corn, dairy, soy, eggs and peanuts. There is a reason why these foods cause the most common food allergies among our population. We are not only overly exposed to these foods as part of a standard American diet, but are also major offenders when it comes to foods that disrupt our digestive function and immunity. Also on the list of exceptions are processed vegetable oils (hi pro-inflammatory omega-6), beans, legumes and lentils (their high fiber content can cause distress), foods high in added sugars and special nuts (cashews, hazelnuts and pistachios) that are harder digest.
More food, less drink.
Although we recommend getting enough water throughout the day (half the weight in ounces is optimal), focus on drinking this fluid before or after meals, but never during. This will not only help you focus on our other eating recommendations (focus on eating, eat slowly), but it will also make it easier for your body to break down and digest food. Alcohol, coffee, and tea should be ruled out, as they can interfere with the digestion and absorption of nutrients needed to treat the intestines.
Spin your squirrels
Speaking of food intolerances and allergies, this is a protein of food to which the body responds. As Americans, we tend to eat the same food over and over, so that when we jeopardize our intestinal health, we can begin to respond to the things that are common in our diet. Since our diet does not have a large number of different proteins (beef and chicken are the most common), it is this category of food that may be most at risk for food sensitivity. The GUT.FIX nutrition plan rotates various proteins (or products that are biologically similar) to not only provide variety, but also help prevent the occurrence of food sensitivities or allergies. To practice the protein rotation protocol, you can eat a certain category of protein (say chicken) per day and throughout the day, but then you won’t be able to again, at least four days later. This allows your body to fully digest and eliminate it along with any potential antibodies.
Cook vegetables
Vegetables provide enough vitamins and minerals, as well as some of the best sources of dietary fiber (necessary to maintain optimal digestion function). But if your intestines feel compromised, raw vegetables can cause additional bloating and related symptoms (excess gas, etc.), which makes them not very desirable for consumption. Eating boiled vegetables is a great way to make sure that your body receives the necessary nutrients, and also facilitates its digestion and breakdown. After a couple of weeks of eating boiled vegetables (and taking supplements that support the intestines), start adding a serving of raw vegetables every day so you can easily eat them, with the ability to test your tolerance.
Reduction in the number of other major offenders
So here is the thing. If you eliminate the biggest criminals listed above, you will be in great shape to maintain your intestinal health. But there are several other groups of foods that are often considered healthy (and ironically advertised as bowel foods in other bowel health programs) that can actually interfere with complete bowel healing if you respond to them. These product groups include FODMAPS (short-chain fermented carbohydrates such as garlic and onions), whole nuts and seeds, whole grains (even gluten-free, such as wild rice), fermented foods (such as sauerkraut), and nightshade vegetables (bell peppers) , white potatoes, etc.). We have included lists of each of these food categories in our online program so that users have all the information they need. In addition, we recommend the “most portable” menu, as each of these major intruders is free to achieve the best results and relief.
Include healthy foods
While eliminating problematic foods is good for any bowel recovery program, the best ones also include foods that help nourish and heal the bowels. The idea is to fill your plate with foods that will support your intestines and overall health, such as high-quality meat, cooked vegetables and some fruits, as well as healthy oils that provide essential nutrients that are easily and easily absorbed by your the body. When you remove all the offenders that are on your digestive tract, it’s easier for your body to absorb the nutritional components of a quality diet.
Since we strongly believe in nutritional recommendations, we have included a 30-day nutritional plan in the GUT.FIX online recruitment program to help overcome as many barriers as possible. The nutrition plan is designed to provide not only variety, but also nutrition and time to help support bowel function and healing so that your body can work its best.
