A dermatologist gives advice to help you look better at any age!
What ingredients should (or should not) contain anti-aging creams and why (or why not)?
Broad-spectrum sunscreen: because skin aging is mainly due to the sun, and not because of age (compare the skin of the buttocks with the face or the outside of the arm of a person who has been in the sun during his life, or V neck and woman’s breasts for evidence).
Retinol: Retinoids are the most studied ingredient for creating collagen under your skin. Creating your own skin collagen is the only way to get it! More skin collagen means fewer fine lines and wrinkles. (Did you know that the use of collagen creams will not lead to the formation of collagen in your skin, because collagen molecules are too large to pass through the skin?) Retinol helps smooth the texture of your skin, giving you a more youthful appearance. It also reduced age spots.
Glycolic acid: It works quickly to lighten the skin, stimulate the formation of collagen and deeper hyaluronic acid production in your skin, which makes the skin moist and soft. It also brightens the pigment spots and uneven pigment of the skin and smoothes skinny age keratosis (seborrheic keratosis).
Hydrators, such as hyaluronic acid: They instantly thicken strong and sagging skin and create a young, moist character for skin tone.
Antioxidants, such as green tea and vitamin C: They help the skin fight structural damage caused by free radicals. Damaged free radicals are formed in your skin as a result of exposure to ultraviolet sunlight and stressful environmental factors, as well as as a result of normal physiological activity. You want your skin to have a healthy antioxidant reserve to neutralize free radicals per minute when they form in your skin so that they do not damage the structure of the skin. Green tea antioxidant polyphenols are a proven antioxidant for work. Vitamin C too. Vitamin C can also stimulate the formation of collagen in the skin and lighten pigment spots, but it is less effective than retinoids and glycolic acid for these latter two benefits.
Good moisturizer: With age, your skin becomes more dry, which leads to a weakening of the strength of the skin barrier. If you do not use a good moisturizer, your skin will become drier and drier. Moisturizers with ingredients such as ceramides and squalane are an excellent choice to combat this aspect of skin aging.
In addition to the ingredients, should there be other properties of anti-aging creams?
Your anti-aging creams should match your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, do not use aggressive acidic products with a pH. For example, do not use vitamin C or glycolic acid if your skin does not tolerate them without irritation. If you have dry skin, look for moisturizers or be sure to add moisturizers.
Some anti-aging active ingredients are destroyed by contact with air, such as vitamin C and other antioxidants, such as green tea polyphenols. Look for these products in sealed containers.
What should I look for / how do you find products that don't really work?
Too little ingredient to benefit the skin: many “magic dust” products include ingredients in their formulas and brag about it on the label. These products really have too little ingredient to do something good.
Fragile ingredients are not metered in an airtight container. As I mentioned above, some ingredients are destroyed by contact with air. Vitamin C is an excellent example. When it collapses, it becomes amber. Amber Serum with Vitamin C is inactive.
Active ingredients that are not stable: tricky active substances, such as retinol, vitamin C and antioxidants, should ideally be produced in pharmaceutical grade facilities that know how to check and guarantee the stability of ingredients and products. My anti-aging products.
What should you consider in your own skin to help you choose the best anti-aging creams especially for you?
Your skin type and sensitivity should be taken into account. If you have sensitive skin from rosacea or seborrhea, you need to go slowly, because the best anti-aging skin products that stimulate the formation of collagen can cause irritation. If you start using them slowly, your skin usually adjusts, but you have to be patient.
How long does it take for these products to work (if they are truly effective)?
Hyaluronic acid will give your skin a radiant and puffy look. Skin lighteners, such as glycolic acid, will be active in a few weeks. Glycolic acid will also work quickly to smooth crusted age spots and lighten sunspots for several weeks. Retinoids take months to begin the process of collagen formation. You will see that some complexion brightens faster than this.
What are non-prescription anti-aging creams (night creams, day creams, eye creams, etc.) Are my main recommendations and what, in particular, makes them such a reliable investment?
My Green Tea Antioxidant Therapy contains equivalent green tea antioxidants from 500 cups of brewed green tea per ounce of cream. These antioxidants help reload and maintain a healthy supply of antioxidants in the skin of the face. They are in a stable form of pharmaceutical quality and, in combination with caffeine, fight against reddening of the face. The cream is distributed in an airtight container.
My anti-wrinkle night cream with retinol has the highest pharmaceutical grade retinol concentration and the same green tea concentration as my green tea therapy. Use it at night and green tea during the day. Retinol is destroyed by contact with light, so this is a night cream. My retinol cream is dosed in an airtight container.
My Instantly Luminous Serum has several molecular masses of hyaluronic acid that are exfoliated throughout the upper layer of the skin for more efficient replenishment. It also contains sodium PCA, part of the skin's natural moisturizing factor, to help keep skin elastic and feel young. These ingredients are stable upon contact with air and bottled in dropper bottles.
My professional serum with vitamin C has a high concentration of vitamin C in acidic pH and an airtight container for all the benefits of vitamin C.
My Daily Face Cream contains squalane and a combination of deeply moisturizing ingredients to maintain a healthy skin barrier so that you can carry powerful products that reduce the signs of aging skin. These ingredients are stable and cream is dosed into the jar.
All my sunscreens have a wide range of SPF 30 or higher, based on zinc mineral oxide and are a must for everyday wear for any meaningful anti-aging skin care.
