[SV] Today I hit my first goal!
After jumping on a losing train in November, I lost 27.4 pounds.
I lost weight because I stopped drinking and limited my calories. I also do intermittent fasting on a schedule of 18: 6. A couple of months ago, I also started to include strength training in my workouts at least 3 days a week.
I am pleased to report that my relationship with food has changed a lot. I did a lot because I always felt like I was robbing myself of all the good food there. The first time I started losing in 2018, I actually gained 225 pounds! I was energetic and disciplined for five months and fell to 180 pounds. I immediately returned to bad habits and rose to 202 pounds. A photo of the progress in this post is in 202, and today in 174.6.
When I decided to stop drinking (I had a problem, probably about 10 years), I also made several other healthy changes. Since I did not drink every night, I drank more water, slept better and made a great choice of food. I found out that a sober person doesn’t really care about junk food because of how annoying it is. I realized that exercise can be really enjoyable if you are not hungover or coughing lightly because you smoke a pack a day.
I found out that I can be tired and lazy, and it is normal if this does not happen every day. To counter my laziness, I started cooking on Sundays. This is amazing. Everything is ready for me within a week, and I know exactly how many calories I consume.
If I do not want to go to the gym that day, I will ask myself the question: “Do you want to become stronger today? Or should we rest? ” Often I leave, but I also don’t feel guilty for taking the day off.
I was able to change my mindset. Diet and exercise are no longer a punishment for my unhealthy choices before. They are gifts to themselves and to my future. Healthy, sustainable gifts.
I am currently working on my second goal, weighing 150 pounds. I also visit a massage therapist a couple of times a month to help me with my posture. As you can see in my photo, my shoulders are uneven. This is from years of poor posture and awkward sleep The massage that I get and the stretch marks that RMT teaches me help with this.
I look forward to checking in another 25 pounds!
Good Friday everyone.
