Healthy food not means eating “good” foods and preventing “bad” foods.
I wholeheartedly recommend that you throw away these labels with trash. Garbage – go!
Food means different things to different people. Food can be …
- the escape
- a shame
- way to connect yourself with others
- way to check
For me, food is mostly about information.
Every time you decide to eat one thing over another, you vote for what is really important to you here and now. It's all. Nothing good or bad. Wrong or wrong. Just a choice based on what is most for you at this particular moment. Information about your current priorities.
We could pick one food over another …
- to communicate with loved ones
- to fit into
- truly nourish our body
- respect our heritage or family traditions
- get away from a hard day
- for joy and pleasure
- because it is convenient
- etc. etc.
There are no judgments here. You decide your priorities. And sometimes other things win over nutrition.
Instead of judging your eating habits as good or bad, think about the reason for them. And if this reason is to eat for pure pleasure, own it. Slow down and really enjoy what you eat.
Whatever you decide to eat, drink or do – choose with intent. When you hold your choices instead of judging them, shame and guilt begin to melt.
