Why does the obesity epidemic go out of control?
We know that obesity
makes us more prone to heart disease + high blood pressure + diabetes +
sleep apnea. This increases the risk of stroke and certain types of cancer. This puts restrictions
about our life and what we can do physically.
Nothing has changed yet.
Despite all that we know and all
the money we spent, we are getting fatter and more painful as a society.
I listened to the podcast
until I went yesterday and something clicked.
We do not need more awareness
or more programs or more funding. We need a new normal.
Way there is it
contributes to the ever-evolving health crisis in which we find ourselves
As humans, we want
match. We want to fit in. We want to be accepted and loved. So
we do what we expect. We are doing what is considered normal.
- Go to school.
- Get a job.
- Have kids.
- To buy a house.
- Order pizza.
- Eat dessert.
became the standard.
To look around. Walk through
grocery store. Examine the restaurant menu. Watch commercials. Note that
other people do and say.
There is no denying that what has become the norm is not
what's best for us
Consider this. It is completely acceptable ask …
- Why don't you drink?
- Is that all you eat?
- You have no dessert?
- Do you want a cupcake?
- Are you sure you don't want bread?
- You will not be hungry?
- Want to increase it?
It is completely unacceptable ask …
- Why do you eat three slices of pizza?
- Why do you have another glass of wine?
- Why do you have a snack?
- Why are you coming back to the buffet again?
- Are you sure you don't want a carrot?
- Why don't you order a salad?
- Won't you be full?
- Are you sure you don't want a little one?
What if the tables were
it turned out and a healthy lifestyle was normal?
My challenge to you?
Do what's best for your body
+ your life + your goals.
Be a rebel. Nonconformist.
Punk rock lover.
“Punk is: a personal expression of uniqueness that comes from the experience of growing up in contact with our human ability to reason and ask questions; a movement that serves to refute social attitudes that have been perpetuated by deliberate ignorance of human nature; a questioning process and a commitment to understanding, which leads to self-improvement and, through repetition, to colors in social evolution; the belief that this world is what we make of it, the truth comes from our understanding of how things are going, and not from blindly following the instructions on how things should be; the constant struggle with the fear of social consequences.
