Moderators, recruiters, announcement of the rules, an open winter survey and much more! : lose it
Hello!
Pin for a frequent post today. We have a lot of holidays because of the holidays, so bear with me and hopefully I get this format correctly.
height
Some of you may know that the moderation commands in r / lostit & r / progresspics are one and the same. Over the past 8 years, both submarines have extraordinarily increased in size and activity.
Here are some numbers just for fun. Keep in mind that they are not perfect, but give an idea of how far we have come. (Numbers taken from snapshots of the.org archive as close to the end of the year as possible are rounded to the nearest thousand.)
Year | R/ Lose it | R/ Progresspics | Total amount |
---|---|---|---|
2011 | 43000 | 3000 | 46000 |
2012 | 106000 | 17000 | 123000 |
2013 | 182000 | 67000 | 249000 |
2014 | 247000 | 116000 | 363000 |
2015 | 300,000 | 156000 | 456000 |
2016 | 370000 | 190000 | 560000 |
2017 | 708000 | 274000 | 982000 |
2018 | 1300000 | 603000 | 1903000 |
2019 | 1973000 | 910000 | 2883000 |
As you can see, both submarines received a total of almost 1 million submarines per year; we grew by leaps and bounds. Over the past month, we have seen 1300 daily subscribers on r / lostit and 1200 on r / progresspics. Although we know that now is the end of the year, and traffic will be higher due to the holidays, these numbers are simply amazing.
Exciting, but leads us to the next part of this post … We need more mods.
Moderator selection
The team consists of volunteers. Each of us has a life outside of Reddit (surprisingly, I know). We began to feel the tension of the growth of submarines. We rely on user reports to take care of things that divert attention from the amazing support community of you all. Spammers trying to prey on people's vulnerabilities, sneaking up on those who share their progress, sneak up on trolls, jump up with nothing to do, quarrel in comments, get out of control, etc. … sometimes this can become a little troubling.
We have opened applications for those who want to help, becoming part of the mod team. Experience with the car is a plus. It is advisable that you be active. If you do not participate in the events, yes, we check the profiles, then your application will most likely not be considered.

New Rules Announcements and Mods Announcements
A branch has recently appeared on what types of diets are allowed to be discussed. At least it got hot. Rule 11: “… We are not a Pro-ED community. Any diet or routine that constantly falls below the medically recommended minimum should be monitored by a healthcare professional and may not be recommended here. ”
After r / proed was banned, we had an influx of redirectors trying to use r / lostit as an alternative; this is not the place. To clarify, this is not a community for promoting VLCD. We understand that people may have to fall below these minimums when their growth requires it; this is not what the rule is for.
To reassure some people, we do not mean discussing IF, OMAD, or other time-based diets if they follow the above minimums. Since this always happens: yes, you can still follow the minimum requirements, and it will not be great if your diet consists of foods that do not have nutritional density. This is not what we are discussing here.
After some discussion, a new rule appeared. Materials should be reasonably spaced. We strive to limit the frequency of publications once a month. If you want to rate this, use the comments section.
In addition, we are not going to add a rule that determines the order in which images are placed. We understand that some of you prefer a certain order, and that’s normal. This is not what we, as a development team, are ready to do. We are not going to add more work for something purely cosmetic. (I like to use overhead comparison gifs, but it's not the best GIF.)
To strengthen the rule that we have taken a tough stance in the past and will continue to do so.
Rule 2: “… Progress manifests itself in many other forms, except for weight loss, such as restoring addiction, changing physical shape, changing sex, etc. As long as there is a clear development of a person before / after, it is accepted here … "
If you think something is beyond this, report it. Do not try to leave the mod in the comments. This will earn a ban. We are not the best in modmail if you give us extra work, causing drama in relation to this very simply formulated and easy to understand rule.
We remind you that in social networks information sharing in social networks is prohibited. In r / lostit there is a Track With Me Thursday branch, where it is allowed in the provided section.
Poll
It has been 6 months since we last passed the survey. It's time to open up again for feedback on all of the above and more. If you want to express your wishes or leave feedback about the subcontractor, the place for this is a survey. We review all the responses after closing the survey and will use feedback to adapt further subreddit moderation. This publication will run for a month and will be closed at the end of January. After everything is considered, we will contact a brief message detailing the conclusions and decisions made.
Here is a link to the survey.
Rules and Reporting
Finally, we want to confirm that we rely on custom reports. We thank everyone who devotes time to our attention, since we want the subredd to remain a place of support. For each of you who participate and do this in the interests of supporting your fellow editors, we want to say … Thank you. Thank you for being awesome. We are proud of these communities and look forward to what the future can bring.
