This common type of acne is often overlooked, and yet normal acne products do not completely treat it.
If you are struggling with acne that does not respond as well as you would expect from your acne care products, you may have this type of yeast acne, pityrosporum folliculitis.
What is folliculitis pityrosporum?
- It is a type of acne caused by skin yeast called Pityrosporum (also called Malassezia). These normal skin yeasts sometimes overgrow what is useful and cause acne.
- PF lesions include bright red acne, which is both tender and itchy, and tiny clogged pores.
- Pityrosporum folliculitis mainly affects the skin of the upper chest and back, the hairline along the entire face and neck, the forehead and the jaw line. When bad, the entire face is affected and pimples sneak around the sides of your neck.
- Adolescents to middle age are most at risk of developing folliculitis Pityrosporum.
Without treatment, these little yeasts will destroy your skin.
