Today, I'm talking to a registered nutritionist, Lindsey Janeiro, about collagen. Collagen powder is the hottest addition to social networks, when people invest it in everything from coffee to protein. Therefore, I speak with an expert to ask everything you want to know – if you take it? What are the benefits? Will it make me run faster? Lose weight? Look cute? Make friends with friends? Fill a hole in my heart ???
If you are new here … My name is Monika and I created Run Eat Repeat more than 9 years ago to prepare a document for my first full marathon and fight with my weight. I ran in this marathon, eventually lost weight, and the site turned into a great online community and now this podcast! Thank you for listening!
Now “let's warm up!
To warm:
This weekend I run a marathon "Revel".
Thoughts before the race … impending doom.
I don't feel ready at all. And it annoys me.
Every month I used a marathon and a full marathon almost every month. I fell off the van because I was sad, not motivated and gave up my goal.
Taking notes to warm up and identify that I am not ready to run a full marathon – partly because I didn’t train long or hard enough … but also because I was injured in a non-physical way that really spoiled me … makes me feel yourself a little better.
Yes, I could put it together and run out of other marathons last year. Yes, I could train harder. Yes, I could get the best shape in my life!
But I don't … so I start here.
It's me, and I'm moving from this place. Focusing on where I was – faster, slimmer, thinner … does not help where I am.
I do not repent of my health – it turns out that I ran 2 -18 miles in length! – That's all I did for the first marathon (let's not talk about how I hated myself after this race).
And the only way I can get back to the marathon running distance is to run a marathon, get my ass given to me and get back on the right path.
So this weekend my marathon goals are:
A. Run a sub-4-hour marathon
B. End the marathon with a strong – smart, pay attention to fuel and what I feel to learn from it.
C. Done.
D. Do not die.
And I run with my friend! So I am very excited about this!
Do not forget – there are a lot of races ahead!

What is collagen?
If you take it? What for?

What is the difference between collagen supplements and collagen supplements?
Are there any side effects?
Would it help me run faster? Look younger? Lose weight? To be happier? Less lonely? Warm me up at night? ///
What does collagen powder consist of?
Can this help restore skin collagen?
Are there products that can provide the same benefits?
Are there products that can increase collagen or help prevent collagen loss?
What should we look for in addition to collagen? What should be avoided? (information / sources of nutritional information / portion size, etc.)
Here is some info from Lindsey Janiero RD through Nutrition to Fit:
Collagen 101 – what is it?
Collagen is the most common protein in your body, which is found in the skin, muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, and even teeth, blood vessels, and corneas. Collagen has many roles, helping to give your skin elasticity to strength in the bones.
What is collagen made of?
Hydrolyzed collagen peptides are obtained by treating animal cartilage, hides and bones. It can be from cows, pork, chicken or other animals and can include one source (for example, bull skins) or several (skins and cartilage). They can also be obtained from marine sources such as shellfish, fish skins or cartilage from fish or sharks.
What are the benefits?
Collagen enthusiasts claim the benefits of collagen / collagen peptide benefits for any of the improved hair, nails and skin, for joint health, digestion and other various diseases.
Note. Dietary supplements are not regulated by the FDA in the same way that our regular food product is regulated, which means supplementing companies must evaluate the safety and labeling of their products before marketing to ensure that all requirements of the DSHEA and FDA rules are met (6).
Are there any special benefits for athletes?
Studies show that collagen can reduce and prevent joint pain and loss of bone density (9). A single 24-week study looked at hydrolyzed collagen as a dietary supplement to help athletes with joint pain associated with an activity, considering the possible benefits of collagen supporting joint health, reducing joint pain that can impede athletic performance, and possibly reduce risk of joint deterioration in some individuals (ten).
