The dermatologist explains the two main causes of itching and scabs in the ears and on the ears and how to eliminate them.
Did you struggle with unpleasant itching in the ear? Do you find crusty skin on the ear? This is actually not uncommon, but there is relief for itchy ears.
Here are the two main causes of itching and scabs on the ears:
These common inflammatory skin rashes tend to affect the skin of the ears. In both cases, the skin and dead skin scales accumulate. There is a major inflammation that is part of the problem. It is the combination of inflammation and flaking of the skin that leads to unpleasant itching. You do not need to know which of these conditions you have, because the treatment is similar.
We do not know all the reasons why these conditions affect the ears, or even why a rash occurs in some people and not in others. Although we have treatment. They are simple and can significantly alleviate both scales and itching.
Most importantly, do not scratch your itchy ears!
My dad, whom I miss very much, had a bad itch in his ears. He had both seborrhea and psoriasis, so I realized how unpleasant this problem is. I wanted to give him relief and worked hard to find simple things that he could do to avoid scratching his extremely itchy ear canal. My dad was a very straightforward veterinarian of World War II, and he would “tell me how it was,” if something did not work. He would also stop treating the ears when it seemed that everything was getting better, which leads to quick repetition. Helping my father with itchy ears, I perfected my advice to patients!
In my last video, I explain which parts of the ears are most susceptible to seborrhea and psoriasis, as well as crusting and itching. I give you my favorite OTC procedures and other tips and recommendations from my dermatological practice – and dad – to help you get rid of the itching and rind of the ears. Thank you dad!
