British stunt rider hit 76 mph, doing a headstand on a motorcycle
Riding a motorcycle requires good balance and coordination – especially if you ride it when you do a headstand … face back. Over the weekend, the British stunt Marco George set a new record for the fastest motorcycle stand: he ran 76 miles per hour, Irish News reports.
George is a robotic engineer and semi-professional stunt, according to Irish News, He set a new record, which has not yet been officially certified, at the Straightliners World World Motorized Racing Competition held at the UK airfield. He hoped to double the previous record – 30 miles per hour.
“I don’t know what happened, I just turned on the next show from what I usually do, and I managed to get 76,” George told the PA news agency. “I feel amazing and relieved.”
On his first official run, he gained speed up to 68 mph, doing a headstand. Then the founder of the event encouraged him to try 70 mph, which is the maximum speed limit in the UK. So George returned to the track and forced himself to go a few more runs. Finally he peaked at 76 mph and told ITV that "about the limit that I think about what my core strength can withstand."
He posted a record trip to a video on Facebook. Check it out below:
But he also had other people to think about.
“I promised my mother that if I turn 70, I will call it day,” he said. "Therefore, I have to fulfill my promise to my mother, because she is not too happy watching this."
