Athleticon is about to shake the world of bodybuilding and fitness
We all know the Arnold Sports Festival (which includes the Arnold Classic) and the Joe Vader fitness and performance events (which includes Mr. Olympia). And this is not often a new top-level event to compete with them. In fact, it is unprecedented. But Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and media and fitness impresario Dani Garcia are shaking the world of fitness festivals with a new event, Athleticon, to be held in Atlanta from October 9-11, 2020.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, given their ancestry on the Hollywood lists, Johnson and Garcia are striving to bring new energy to fitness weekends organized around physique competitions, with an increased emphasis on entertainment, including musical performances, movie premieres, dinners and even comedies. The weekend also promises to be inclusive, including sports and wellness aspects, and not just aesthetic contests.
There is something for everyone. A broad-based approach reflects an expanding range of people's interests; Nowadays, an active person can do strength exercises, yoga and jogging in the same way as an athlete involved in sports.
Athleticon has the potential to become a truly huge new event and a chance for active people of all stripes to come together on a common basis – and it looks like it will be a lot of fun.
Go to the Athleticon website or follow it on Instagram and twitter to see how the festival develops and reserve your place for the first event!
