5 Healthy Ways to Detox Mind, Body, and Soul – True Training
The word detox is becoming more and more popular in the wellness community, especially when it comes to diets and caring for our body. Despite the many benefits of detoxification, there is also a lot of misinformation that is not healthy. One of the great opportunities God has given our bodies is the ability to adapt very quickly to the lifestyle in which we live, but we can also reach a point where this lifestyle is no longer sustainable. This has both a good and a bad side. The bad side is that these unhealthy habits can become so routine and an integral part of your daily life that you may not even be aware of the symptoms or signs that your body is giving you, that you need to stop and make changes to your habits.
Let's start by defining detoxification: the process or period of time during which a person abstains from toxic or harmful substances or disposes of them; detoxification. We could all use detox in areas of our lives, right? Getting rid of habits, situations, and even people in our lives that cause us stress, and make choices that are not suitable for us physically and spiritually.
Physical detoxification, in order to get rid of substances harmful to our body, can increase energy levels, increase our metabolism, support digestion and weight regulation, reduce inflammation and damage to free radicals, strengthen skin health, strengthen your immune system, help you sleep better and reduce premenopausal symptoms .
Emotional and spiritual detox can reduce stress and depression, cheer up, develop emotions of happiness and joy, and reduce the risk of dementia.
Here are 5 healthy ways you can cleanse your mind, body, and soul to live happier and healthier:
1. Add color to your dietTo fruits and vegetables that are loaded with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. Eating foods rich in whole foods can lead to improved cardiovascular health, a lower risk of cancer, better vision, a lower risk of diabetes, and better digestive health (just a few). Part of a healthy detox is getting rid of the harmful substances that accumulate in our body, and the natural fibers found in fruits and vegetables can help us cleanse our digestive system. 2. Cut sugar – even artificialToo much sugar causes inflammation in our body, which is a serious health problem and can cause many health problems. By simply cutting back on sugar-added foods (yes, including artificial sugars that are not good for your body), you will be surprised at how much better you feel with more energy and a clearer mind. 3. Hydrate, Our bodies are 70% water, so hydration is one of the most important and effective ways to remove toxins not only from the body, but also from the brain and other organs. Here are some fun facts about the ratio of water in the body: the brain and heart are 73% water, the lungs are 83%, the skin is 64%, the muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery by 31%. See why staying hydrated is so important ?! Water helps cleanse the body of toxins. Did you know dehydration can also contribute to weight gain?
Here is your humidification task: drink at least 64 ounces of water (the more the better) per day. You can also spice things up so that H2O does not get boring with fresh fruits and herbs like chopped fresh mint. Carbonated and flavored water is becoming increasingly popular, but just make sure you read the ingredients. There should be no added sugars or artificial sugars such as sucralose, artificial ingredients or colorings. Ingredients should indicate only sparkling water.
4. Limit screen time. In the age of technology in which we live, we are connected to information 24/7, which is bad for our mind. We need time every day for our brain to decompress. We often claim that we don’t have time to think or spend quality time with God in prayer, but the reality is that we are always flooded with too much information and chatter. This requires discipline, but build at least 2 hours every day when you remove distractions such as a computer, phone, TV, and any other device to open the Bible or go for a walk. Give your soul time to recharge your batteries and restore strength.
5. Spend time with God. The more you spend time with God, the more you will know Him and the more you will grow in your faith. The Bible tells us that those who KNOW Him trust in Him. "Those who know your name believe in you, for you, the Lord, have never left those who seek you." Psalm 9:10 If you do not spend quality time with God every day, how can you grow to really know Him?
You can spend time with Him every day at home, reading the Bible, in church, talking with Him on a hiking trail or during training, where you can fight for health at the foot of the cross. It is when we intentionally lay our hearts and eyes on Christ that we go deep into Him. When we know and trust Him through the truth of His words, we give Him our fears and reduce stress, which damages us physically, mentally and spiritually.
